TALLINN CITY BREAKS
4 days from £350 pp

One of Europe’s best preserved medieval cities, Tallinn was quite literally hidden from view for over 50 years. Now this Hansa city shows off its Russian, Swedish and Germanic past with renovated buildings and a profusion of shops, restaurants and bars that line the narrow cobbled streets of the Old Town, imperiously overlooked by Toompea Castle.

Estonia’s capital sparkles with enthusiasm and energy. Restaurants abound, with Russian and Estonian cuisine, pastry cafés are everywhere, making seeing the town on foot a delight. Outside of the Old Town there’s one place that’s a must: Kadriorg or Catherine’s Valley after Peter the Great’s Czarina. Just a few minutes from Tallinn’s centre this forested park (latticed with pathways and ponds) is a world all of its own at whose centre is Kadriorg Palace, the Czar’s 18th c summer house – and some summer house it is!

All our Tallinn city breaks are designed to be something of a ‘Brief Encounter’ with the city and its culture. We’ve chosen hotels with something of the ambiance of Estonia about them and include on the first day of your stay, a guided tour of the city together with a good local guide book and map.
