DANISH CYCLING HOLIDAYS

If you think that Denmark’s highest point at Yding Skorhej is barely 3 1/2 times as high as Nelson’s column, you can understand why the Danes cycle everywhere – the place is virtually flat! It’s also chocolate box pretty especially to the north of Copenhagen and south of Odense (birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen) with half timbered houses, moated castles and picturesque fishing villages as standard. All in all, the perfect place for a cycling holiday for people of an everyday fitness level and who cycle a little at home.

We have showcased 3 routes: one up to Helsingor, over to Roskilde and back to Copenhagen; one around the island of Funen and one taking in Southern Sweden. For each we provide a detailed route description with info on places to see and where to stop for lunch, together with a colour map with clear route markings. And while you cycle along and enjoy yourself your luggage is safely driven day by day to your next overnight hotel stop.

Whilst traditionally styled, our bicycles are made by Kildemoes, Scandinavia’s longest established and largest bike manufacturer known for their hi-tech bikes with ‘attitude’. Made in 5 sizes, each is fitted with an 8 speed Shimano Nexus gear and replaced every season.

FAIRY TALE FUNEN ITINERARY

DAY 1 UK-ODENSE Scheduled flight to Copenhagen, train to Odense and overnight.
DAY 2 ODENSE-FAABORG Your bicycles & route map are delivered to your hotel, after which you set off to the little village of Faaborg, cycling through characteristically Danish countryside. Overnight in Faaborg.
DAY 3 FAABORG-SVENDBORG Take the ferry to Soby on Aero, cycle alongside the beaches and discover what Hans Christian Andersen loved about this part of Denmark. Island hop once more by ferry to Svendborg for overnight stay.
DAY 4 SVENDBORG-NYBORG Follow the east coast to Nyborg with shimmering seascapes to your right and manor houses and castles at every town. Overnight in Nyborg.
DAY 5 NYBORG-ODENSE A maritime day with a ride along the Hindsholm peninsula and the Odense fjord back into town. Overnight in Odense.
DAY 6 ODENSE-UK Train to Copenhagen and return flight to UK.
