Map of tour
As much a work of art as a city, Russia’s past capital, St. Petersburg is a captivating cocktail of experiences. This twin centre holiday begins with time in Helsinki before taking the rail route past medieval Vyborg, across the Karelian Isthmus and into the ancient capital of the Czars.
Here you will find the Hermitage Museum, Winter Palace, St Isaac’s Cathedral, Peter and Paul Fortress, Yusupov Palace and Rusputin rooms. For students of history there is the Cruiser Aurora from which, in 1917, the signal was given to start the Revolution. Out of town lies the Petrodvorets, the Summer Palace of the Czars - an unmissable sight here being the Grand Cascade, a sparkling veil of water created by sixty four fountains, showering down in front of the Great Palace.
