LAKELAND MOTORING HOLIDAYS

See the Finnish countryside at your own pace and in your own way. With it’s excellent roads and light traffic, a motoring holiday is perhaps the perfect way to enjoy the Finnish countryside’s lattice of lakes and forests, sights and cities.

Your itinerary begins with two days in Helsinki and is then planned around our portfolio of 30 of Finland’s finest hotels. Whilst varying in style all have a welcoming atmosphere and twin bedded rooms with private WC and shower/bath, telephone, radio and TV. Hotel facilities include restaurant, bar, sauna and car parking. Non smoking rooms are available.

Exampled below are suggested routes around Finland’s most scenic and culturally interesting areas together with a descriptive itinerary for a Lakeland tour. However, we can modify any one of these, add a night here or there or start from scratch to provide you with a tailor made itinerary: please telephone or email us to get things going.

LAKELAND

DAY 1 Scheduled flight from London or Manchester to Helsinki. O/N at the Helka Hotel for 2 nights.
DAY 2 At leisure in Helsinki.
DAY 3 Collect hire car and leave for Hämeenlinna, the birthplace of Sibelius. O/N at Hotel Vaakuna on the edge of Lake Vanajavesi.
DAY 4 Drive to Jyväskylä, set amongst hills at the northern end of Lake Päijänne. Climb Harju Ridge’s 143 steps for an exquisite view of the city. O/N at Hotel Alexandra.
DAY 5 Through the centre of Lakeland Finland to Mikkeli, a charming centre of lakeland traffic. 2 nights at Hotel Vaakuna.
DAY 6 At leisure or optional excursion drive to Savonlinna and Punkaharju ridge.
DAY 7 Onwards to the spa town of Lappeenranta in southern Karelia. The Saimaa canal leading to Russia was the Czar’s waterway into Finland. O/N at Hotel Lappee..
DAY 8 Return drive to Helsinki and return flight back to UK.
