Discover the majestic Sognefjord and the awe inspiring Geiranger; two of Norway’s most spectacular attractions. Our fully escorted 6-day tour includes overnight hospitality at the finest fjord resort hotels and includes mini-fjord cruises as well as breathtaking views of glaciers, mountains, lakes and waterfalls.
DAY 1 UK – BERGEN Scheduled SAS flight to Bergen via Oslo. Transfer on arrival. Afternoon at leisure and overnight at Hotel Norge.
DAY 2 BERGEN –FLAM- BALESTRAND Early morning departure for Voss, down the Naeroy valley past Stalheim canyon to the fjord side village of Flam for an inspiring ride on the mountain railway with its vertiginous 1 in 18 gradient to Myrdal. Afterwards cruise along the Aurland and Naeroy fjords with their cascading waterfalls and white topped mountain peaks to Gudvangen before crossing the Vika mountains and Sognefjord by coach and ferry for an overnight at the Kviknes Hotel.
DAY 3 BALESTRAND We think this Norway’s ‘Jewel in the Crown’. If you can tear yourself away from the tranquility of the hotel’s grounds take a trip along the Fjaerlandfjord by ferry to the eponymous glacier and up on the glacier itself.
DAY 4 BALESTRAND-GEIRANGER Drive along the northern shore of the Sognefjord to Fjaerland underneath the Jostedal glacier and then alongside Lake Jolster, down to the Nordfjord to Olden for a trip up to the Briksdal glacier. Lunch overlooking the glacier before continuing to Hellesylt and a cruise along the Geiranger fjord laced with its famous waterfalls, the Bridal Veil and Seven Sisters for an overnight at the Union hotel.
DAY 5 GEIRANGER-OSLO Follow the serpentine road up to Dalsnibba for a mountain top view of the fjord below, cross the Groth mountains, on to Lom with its triple nave Stave church and then down the Gubrands valley flanked either side by mountains to Lillehammer. Continue on to Oslo, the Viking capital by way of Lake Mjosa for an overnight at the Holmenkollen park hotel overlooking the wide bay that is Oslofjord and the city itself.
DAY 6 OSLO – UK Transfer to airport and scheduled SAS flight to UK.
