Legoland – the original – is in Billund, a small village in the heart of Jutland, surrounded by heather clad moorland, gentle hills and valleys. Giveskud Safari park and Engelholm Castle are close by.
Legoland Park is a wonderful world in miniature with no limit to age, play or pleasure. Adults feel like children again. Play becomes an exciting experience and imagination becomes reality.
Hans Christian Andersen, whose works include The Emperor’s New Clothes, was born and spent much of his life in Odense on the island of Fyn. His house has been turned into a museum, where much of his original work can be seen.
Capital of one of the oldest kingdoms, Copenhagen is a lively, cosmopolitan city with much to see for young and old alike. Sights include the colourful harbour district Nyhavn, the Town Hall Square, numerous museums, the world famous little Mermaid and Tivoli, a large expanse of gardens and water right in the centre. More than just an amusement park, Tivoli has theatre, concerts, a dance hall, firework displays and over 20 restaurants and cafes.
DAY 1 Scheduled Sterling Airlines flight from Gatwick to Billund for 2 nights at Legoland Hotel.
DAY 2 Experience the world ‘en miniature’: towns, castles and ports; see cars being driven, ships sailing and cranes working – all built out of Lego bricks.
DAY 3 Collect hire car and drive to Odense, birth place of Hans Christian Andersen. Two nights Hotel City.
DAY 4 Explore Odense: the Hans Christian Andersen Museum, Funen village open-air museum or take a trip to Egesov Castle.
DAY 5 Drive to Copenhagen drop off hire car and 2 nights at Hotel Ibsens.
DAY 6 Enjoy Copenhagen: attractions include the Town Hall; Christiansborg Palace; the Round Tower with splendid views over the city; the little Mermaid; Nyhavn and of course Tivoli, the world famous amusement park and delightful gardens!
DAY 7 At leisure until return Stirling Airlines flight to Gatwick.
