Celebrate New Year in the slightly manic style peculiar to Icelanders. Start the evening with our ‘Buffet on Ice’; blow out the Old Year on our bonfire tour; bring in the New with champagne and fireworks and then dance till you drop. Recuperate and then, over the weekend, snowmobile across a glacier, search for the Northern Lights or chill out in the Blue Lagoon.

The shops are stylish and according to A.A. Gill, the women “the most groin-throbbingly beautiful in the world”. And the locals have developed a legendary and prodigious reputation for being able to enjoy themselves.

This ultra-modernity and party town atmosphere dramatically contrasts with the island interior with its geologically sculpted scenery; glacial ice fields, sand deserts, lava fields, volcanoes, waterfalls and geysers. All of which you can see either by horseback, Super Jeep, snowmobile or, for the fainthearted, from the comfort of a reclining coach seat.
