Kangerlussuaq, set at the head of a deep fjord on Greenland’s west coast, is your base for some of the most extraordinary adventures in the world. Get up close and personal with Wild Musk Oxen; drive up on top of the Greenland inland icecap; husky sledge in the time honoured manner of the Innuit or snowmobile in the style of their contemporary descendents. Marvel at the awe inspiring scenery and watch out for one of nature’s most extraordinary phenomena, the Northern Lights.

HOTEL KANGERLUSSUAQ

Think utility and base camp location rather than hotel anywhere in Greenland, not least in Kangerlussuaq, where its eponymous hotel is within the air terminal. Formerly a barracks it’s comfortable, clean and to an extent the only show in town but all 69 rooms have private wc/shower, radio and TV.
